GROWING IN CHRIST

1. Be reading your Bible!
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
If I’m complete and equipped by the Word then I’m incomplete and ill equipped with out it. It’s your Bible that will teach you about His plan for your life and it will navigate you through life’s difficult moments. As food fills and nourishes the physical body so also the Word of God will fill, nourish and satisfy your soul. Spend time daily reading your Bible, I’d suggest beginning in the book of John. By reading 4 chapters daily you will be able to read through the whole Bible in a year.

2. Be in Prayer!
Deut. 4:29
“But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
This is  one of the ways God communicates with us and we communicate with Him. As all relationships need communication in order to develop and grow, we need to seek God and pour out our hearts to Him. He will be found by those who seek Him, which is why it is so valuable to spend quality time with Him. Prayer should be the number one priority in your day.

3. Be in Church!
Hebrew 10:25
“not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

It’s been said that no man is an island and though there are times we all would love to be alone, the reality is that God didn’t design us to be alone. While at Church we spend time in corporate worship and study of the Bible, we also gather for encouragement, prayer, and communion.  You are welcome to come and join us here at Harvest Life but if we are not in your area please feel free to contact us so we can help you find a Bible teaching church near you.

4. Be Faithful!
John 14:21a
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.”
One of the ways I show my love for Him is by being obedient in doing what His word tells me to do. This is one of the reasons it’s so important to be doing the three things we’ve already discussed. The Lord will use these three things to strengthen you. James 1:22-25 says we are to be doers of the Word and not hearers only, if we are doers we will be blessed.  I want my life to be blessed by God and I’m sure you do too!

5. Be willing to share your decision to follow Christ!
Luke 1:49
“For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.”
Tell others about the choice you have made to follow Jesus. In Matthew chapter 5 it talks about us being the light of the world, there are people you see everyday that need to hear that Jesus loves them and wants to forgive them of their sins; God has chosen you to tell them this great news. Tell them about your decision to follow Christ.
